Not that Tim Tebow needs any help regrouping, but Gator Coach Urban Meyer called upon one of his best friends, former NFL star Cris Carter to help deal with the death of Gator teammate Guilford. Why Cris Carter? Because he went through a similar tragedy during his days in Minnesota when OT Korey Stringer died on the practice field from heat stroke.
“I think everybody was uplifted through it,” quarterback Tim Tebow said. “He was a great kid and I’m just thankful for the 19 years he had and all the lives he impacted, including myself. He was a special kid.”

The Gators have reached midseason. There have been some disappointments, but fans are naive if they thought the Gators would go through the season undefeated. Tebow has played very well thus far. He’s answered his critics and suprassed expectations.
Coming into the 2007 season, everyone knew Tebow could run the ball. The questions surrounding him where whether or not he could pass the ball. I think the fact the he’s among the top quarterbacks in the nation in passing (1455 yards) and has a 65.5% completion rate, 13 to 3 touchdown to interception ratio, and a 173.1 QB rating speaks for itself. Not to mention all his rushing statistics.
Tebow does have a few things he needs to work on though before he can be a truly elite QB. I think by this time next year Tebow will be hands down the best quarterback in college football. Hell, he may even win this Heisman this season. If I were to give Tebow a midseason grade, it would have to be an A. The few interceptions he’s throw have not been his fault. The WRs were running the wrong routes.

The Gators are known around the world as having the most hard core fans of any college team. Not only do our fans travel well, but they support and latch on to a phenom when they see one. Tebow is that phenom and there’s no denying Tebow has the best fans in the world. Some are crazy, some are funny, and some are hot. Below is a nice picture of Tebow’s biggest fan.

The Gators are on bye this week. They won’t play again till they face Kentucky on October 20. This gives Tebow a lot of time off. What should he do?
- Should he hit the weight room and improve his max bench press to 500 lbs.?
- Should he fly to Afghanistan and hunt down Osama Bin Laden?
- Should he work on finding a Halloween costume?
Whatever it is Tebow will be doing during his bye week, I hope it involves working on his vision. Tebow may be the Heisman favorite right now, but he still needs to work on reading defenses and spreading the ball to someone other then Harvin.

From the Associate Press…
Quarterback Tim Tebow said Tuesday he received hundreds of threatening messages on his cell phone leading up to Florida’s game at top-ranked LSU.
They were the reason Tebow pretended to dial a cell phone after his first touchdown pass, a 2-yarder to Kestahn Moore that made it 10-0 in the second quarter.
Tebow said many of the messages contained physical threats and most included foul language.
“I really don’t use that type of language too much, so I can’t tell you,” Tebow said, declining to reveal any of the messages. “Some people did take it way too far, farther than you should take it with sports. But I think for the most part people were just having fun. Unfortunately, there’s people like that everywhere.”
Tebow said the messages started coming early last week and increased in number as the game got closer. He eventually turned the phone off, but had to listen to each voice message and read each text message before deleting them.
Wow. You stay classy Louisiana.

Two straight losses for the Florida Gators. Who would have ever seen that coming? The Gators led over LSU the entire game until the last LSU series. Poor defense on the gators part ultimately led to the 28-24 loss.
Tebow finished the game with 158 yards passing, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. He also added 67 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown.
What bothers me the most about the recent games is Tebow is averaging more rushing attempts per game then passing completions. That is unacceptable for a quarterback. It’s partly Meyer’s fault with the play calling and the receivers fault for not catching all the passes.
Tebow is still playing very well. His performances on the field haven’t cost the Gators anything. He just needs to be smarter with the ball, spread it around more, and not have a first instinct to run the ball.
If you want to talk more about the LSU game, head over to Gator Envy where they have a lot of discussion threads open.

Not many ‘experts’ are giving the Gators a fighting chance against LSU tomorrow night. I kind of enjoy the underdog role for a change.
For the Gator to beat LSU, they must let Tebow spread the ball. Meyer can’t run Tebow 25 times up the center and expect to gain 8 yards a play against LSU. It just won’t happen. Meyer needs to open the playbook and spread the ball. The Gators are so talented at the WR position (except Cooper who keeps running the wrong routes).
Tebow can beat the weaker opponents (like Ole Miss) by himself, but he needs help against these tough SEC matchups.
Timmy can really make a name for himself in this game. LSU could be a defining moment in his career. Should Tebow rise up to the challenge and beat LSU in Tiger Stadium, he will be an instant legend. Gator fans may even erect another statue of him on campus.

If you’re Tim Tebow, you have to be confident. You can’t let one bad game get you down. The Gators are still a really good football team and certainly capable of upsetting #1 LSU.
“The great thing about this team in this loss is everybody was heartbroken over it, agonizing,” Tebow said. “That shows how much guys care and they’re going to bounce back. I think we’ll have a really good week where we rally around the leaders and the coaches.”
We’ll the Gators have to get lucky? Will they have to pull out a bag of tricks? Tebow doesn’t think so…
“I don’t think this is a week we’ll need cards or anything said by anyone else,” Tebow said. “We already have the motivation. We’re motivated by each other and by not letting each other down. The motivation is going to be there and we’re going to play hard.”

The Florida Gators fell to unranked Auburn on Saturday. Tebow finished the game 20 of 27 for 201 yards passing, one touchdown and one interception. He also added 75 yards rushing and one touchdown on the ground.
It’s important to note that the Tebow interception was not his fault. For the second time, Riley Cooper ran the completely wrong route. An Auburn defender was just sitting there waiting for the pick.
The Gators scored 14 points in the 4th quarter, but it was not enough. Auburn drove the ball with 1 minute left on the clock to get in field goal range.
This is an important game in the development of Timmy Tebow. Every great QB needs to lose a game. You must suffer defeat in order to dish it out to top teams.
