Tim Tebow Zone

The Wonderful World of Tim Tebow

It is my understanding that the Heisman Trophy is to be awarded to the most outstanding college football player. Nowhere in the voting rules does it say “the most outstanding player from a team with 0 or 1 loss” or “most outstanding junior or senior player.” It simply says the best college player.

I keep hearing these media types saying that Tebow can’t win the Heisman because the Gators have 3 losses. That’s BS. So if the Gators win out and somehow win the SEC by smashing LSU in the title game, then Tebow still isn’t deserving because of the 3 previous losses. These “experts” need to shut up and actually watch some Gator games. Tebow is the best player in the NCAA, hands down. McFadden could give him a run for his money, but really I think it’s Tebow.

The weekly Scripps Howard Heisman Trophy poll still has Dennis Dixon of Oregon as the leading vote getter with Tebow in second. Since the Heisman Trophy voting is a fraud and it is based on the team’s number of losses, Gator fans need to pray that the Ducks lose to Arizona St. tonight. If Dixon stumbles, it should propel Tebow into first place.

Be sure to check back tomorrow morning for the Tebow vs. FAU game preview.

So I’m reading some Palm Beach papers to see what FAU is saying about the Gators and Tebow, and I came across an article that is titled “Defense Doesn’t Fear Tebow.” How appropriate I thought. I just had to open it up and read it.

Right at the beginning of the article it says:

“My game plan - and I heard other people downstairs talking about it - is to get him out of the game,” FAU senior safety Taheem Acevedo said when asked how to stop Tebow. “I don’t care how it happens, we just have to get him out of the game. He carries that team.”

Acevedo said he wants Tebow to remember him each time he is tackled.

“Whenever I see big guys like that, I’m not going to go low,” Acevedo said. “My first thought is to go high and hit where it will hurt him more than anything.”

This quote makes it seem like they’re trying to hurt Tebow. Show some class FAU! Since when do players say they’re trying to “get him out of the game.” That is clear indication that FAU players are aiming to hurt Tebow. I wonder if their coaches told them to do it?

I hope Meyer prints this article out and posts it on Tebow’s locker. I would love to see the fire in his eyes when he meets Acevedo on the field. Tebow will make him wish he never played football. If Acevedo tries to go high on Tebow, he’ll just get stiff armed in the face and pushed to the side like everyone else.

BPSports wrote an excellent article on Tim Tebow titled, “Gators’ Tim Tebow: ‘God, Family, Academics & Football’.” Following is a quick excerpt, but you really should go read the whole thing.

Holding the most high-profile position on the defending national championship team — making him the biggest Big Man on Campus at a football-crazed school — could easily go to the head of any college sophomore, but Tim Tebow says that football is not even the third most important thing in his life.

“I am fortunate to have family members, coaches and teammates around who can help me stay focused on the right things for us to be successful. For me, every day includes four things: God, family, academics and football, in that order,” Tebow told the Florida Baptist Witness.

The Florida Gators’ SEC Championship hopes are still alive thanks to their win over South Carolina on Saturday. Tebow shined like the star that we make him out to be, and proved to all the media that he is still a top Heisman candidate.

“That’s an honor any time your named with that award,” Tebow said, grinning from ear-to-ear. “But I’m not going to worry about that.”

Tebow accounted for seven touchdowns, two passing and five rushing, and 424 total yards (304 passing and 120 rushing). During the game he passed Emmitt Smith’s record for rushing touchdowns by a Gator in a single season. And I think Tebow is only a handful of rushing touchdowns away from setting the NCAA record for rushing touchdowns in a single season.

Tebow 42nd touchdown of the year also broke another record on Saturday…total touchdowns in a single season in the SEC. He surpassed Danny Wuerffel’s SEC record 41 touchdowns set in 1996.

Timmy put on a game performance that could make your mouth drop. He made the South Carolina defensive line look like a bunch of walk-ons. He is a phenomenal player that the Gators are very thankful to have playing on their side of the ball.

This Saturday holds another big game for the Florida Gators as they travel to Columbia, South Carolina to take on the Old Ball Coach’s Gamecocks. A loss to South Carolina will knock the Gators out of the SEC East running. Tim Tebow can’t let this happen.

Tim has been practicing full strength this week. He will continue to wear the extra padding on his right shoulder pads, but the shoulder isn’t bother him anymore. Don’t be surprised if you see Timmy lower that right shoulder and crush a few linebackers. I’m predicting somewhere around 10-12 rushes for Tebow against the Gamecocks.

Spurrier will come out with something up his sleeve. He’ll have a new scheme ready to shut down the Gator offense. I’m just not sure he has the talent to do it. Tebow is very quick about getting the ball out, so if the bring a lot of blitz’s we’ll have a way a beating it.

Tebow’s favorite weapon Percy Harvin, has been out sick the past few days. The Gators really need him to be healthy. Tebow will find a way to get Harvin the ball as much as he can.

South Carolina will be a tough game for the Gators. I’m sure it will come down to a big play in the 4th quarter. Tebow will be amped for this one. You have to love the emotion he brings to the game. He has a way of getting all the players and fans just as pumped up as he is.

My prediction for Tebow is 280 yards passing 3 touchdowns and 50 yards rushing and 1 touchdown. And for the game it’s Florida Gators 30, South Carolina Gamecocks 24.

What do you think?

Gainesville, FL University of Florida sophomore quarterback Tim Tebow (Jacksonville, Fla.) earned a selection on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All- District III First Team Thursday. Tebow was a member of the first team and advances to the national ballot for academic All-American accolades.

Tebow has a 3.76 GPA while majoring in Family, Youth and Community Service at Florida. The sophomore signal-caller has earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors twice this year following his efforts against Ole Miss and Troy. He was recently named as a semifinalist for the Maxwell and Davey O’Brien awards.

That’s a great honor for Timmy. For a football player to manage a 3.76 GPA while having to practice everyday and travel all the time is so impressive. Congrats to Tebow on the honor!

Imagine a league filled with dozens of Tim Tebow’s. Nah… that won’t ever happen. There’s only one Superman and he plays for Florida. It’s no surprise that the Old Ball Coach wouldn’t mind having Tebow on his roster, he’s the “type of quarterback everyone is looking for.”

In a recent article, South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier was quoted as saying, “He doesn’t miss many open guys. If they’re open, he doesn’t zing it 5, 10 yards over their heads.”

“He’s made some unbelievable plays when they’re not open and guys are hanging all over him and this, than and the other. So he’s, sort of, the quarterback of the future.”

The quarterback of the future he says! Spurrier has dealt with some amazing college quarterbacks over the years, so we’ll take that as a compliment. I wonder if QBs like Tebow will be the wave of the future. No more drop back passers like Leak? Only duel-threat QBs will be drafted by the top schools. Look right now, Dennis Dixon and Tebow are probably the best two QBs in the country.

Think about it.

I just wanted to make a post about a new ’sister’ site to Tebow Zone. I thought it was only fair to make a website dedicated to Tebow’s favorite weapon, Percy Harvin. We all know how crucial Harvin is to the Gator’s success. Along with Tebow, Percy will be a Heisman candidate next season. He’s practically Reggie Bush but in a Gator uniform.

Harvin Zone is set up just like Tebow Zone. It looks exactly the same, and will function exactly the same. The only thing it is really missing is the Super Man theme song in the sidebar. Harvin Zone has a bio, pictures, videos and fun facts.

So go ahead and check it out. You can get to Harvin Zone by clicking the link above, or clicking the Percy Harvin link in the sidebar here. Bookmark it just like you bookmarked Tebow Zone.

A lot of speculation went on before last Saturday’s game about the extent of Tebow’s injury. I even heard rumors online where Tebow was supposed to be finished for the rest of the season. Well, his performance put those rumors to rest.

“Tim’s not the most honest guy when it deals with injuries,” Meyer said Sunday. “He’s going to be so defensive about it - I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine. He made the comment to me that this week he thinks it’s as close to 100 percent as it’s been because he did not get hit one time [on the shoulder against Vanderbilt].”

Tebow did an excellent job avoiding big hits in the Vandy game. The offensive line protected him and didn’t allow one sack during the game, and Vandy is the SEC’s leading sack defense.

Tebow should be at full speed when the Gators head to South Carolina this weekend.

The Florida Gators, who were favored by 14 going into their Homecoming game, ending up smashing the Vandy Commodores 49-22. Tebow played a hell of a game and led the Gators with 5 total touchdowns. Even though Vandy didn’t prove to be much of a challenge, Tebow showed no mercy. He completed 22 of 27 passes for 281 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interceptions. He also added 35 rushes yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground.

If this doesn’t propel Tebow back into the Heisman talk, the I don’t know what will. His only competition is senior QB from Oregon, Dennis Dixon. Tebow dominates Dixon in all statistical categories, it’s just that Dixon is on a 1 loss team and is a senior.

On Saturday, Tebow showed no signs of being injured. The only time Cam Newton came in to spell Tebow was at the end when the Gators had it wrapped up. Tebow did throw an interception, though it wasn’t entirely his fault and had no negative outcome on the game.
