The Sports Museum of America is considered the United States’ first national sports museum dedicated to the history and cultural significance of sports in America. It’s a new museum and opened just a couple of months ago in New York City. I haven’t been there yet, but judging by the pictures, it gives you a quick glimpse of what you would see at all major sports museums, but located in 1 single building.
I was browsing Flickr the other day and saw this picture of Tim Tebow posted. Someone who had visited the SMA took a photo of the Heisman Trophy exhibit… and guess who’s represented there. Timmy! Looks like they have a big board with a description, as well as, a video unit showing the ceremony.

Sports Museum of America here. Glad you picked this up. As part of being America’s first national museum of sport, we’re the home of the Heisman Trophy. Within the 3,000 square foot gallery dedicated to all things Heisman is a wall celebrating the current Heisman winner (Mr. Tebow). There’s a great video of Tim’s accomplishment, as well as artifacts from Tim’s Heisman-winning campaign (his handwritten notes from his acceptance speech, for example). Best of all, SmA receives one of the votes toward next season’s award, so you can even submit your own vote for Tim in 2008 as well.Hope that helps. Regards, SmA
Yeah man! It’s incredible! This photo here doesn’t do it justice, this is just his highlight reel from winning the Heisman. There is actually a case to the right that has his helmet and jersey, and also the speech notes that he had for his acceptance speech. There’s also his favorite drawn up play. The gallery is cool, because it has a database of all Heisman winners, and you can compare Tebow against them all! Another cool thing is that you can actually vote for the Heisman there too, and it counts! Everyone should make a trip to the Sports Museum - its really cool if you are a true football fan.
