There’s no question that Tim Tebow took a lot of hits last year, especially mid-season when he had the injury shoulder. I didn’t think he was hit that many times in last weekend’s Miami game, and if he was it’s because of the offensive line’s poor play. But some CBS Sports Analysts seem to disagree. “When you get your quarterback hit as much as you do in the spread, you don’t just lose the running game, you lose the passing game,” said Gary Danielson, who claimed the spread “has peaked” Tuesday. “It happened Saturday.”
If the spread offense has “peaked” according to Danielson, then why are so many team adopted this system for their offenses? Half of the top 25 teams in the country run a form of the spread offense. I don’t think it has peaked. I think Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow have just shown the country what it is capable of and with more innovation in the coming years we’ll see advacements.
What happened Saturday is the offensive line didn’t play well, and the play calling was terrible. For the spread offense to work, a team needs an excellent offensive line. They’ll have to be fast so they can block outside of the pocket. Tim Tebow may get hit more then other quarterbacks, but that’s expected because he carries the ball more then other quarterbacks. Pat White had almost 200 carries last year, you don’t hink he’s getting hit on some of those? I just don’t see what Danielson is talking about… in how the running game and passing game is lost if your QB gets hit.

Part of it is, if you take a lot of hits to your throwing arm, it can affect the passing game.
Tebow is left-handed, but if he takes a lot of shots to his right side, it doesn’t do as much harm as if he’s tackled on the left.
That’s why, during last year’s Georgia and Florida State games, he was still doing fine despite suffering a strained right shoulder and a broken right hand. He might not have been able to run, but he could still throw.
As for the spread, there are many different types of spreads run at many different programs, Florida included. While the Gators might run a spread offense with tailback-by-committee and Tebow being a north-south runner, West Virginia does one where Pat White is an east-west runner and Noel Devine is more north-south.
And Missouri might do one where Chase Daniel throws more and Jeremy Maclin lines up at several different positions, but I rest my case.
no not at all he is not. tebow is doing fine, i have seen him run out of bounds “some” but it still is not stopping him either… he is fine..
no hes not getting hit too much and that should kinda be the concern insofar as he wasnt taking many hits (note miami) and still just didnt seem completely in sync with the rest of the offense…perhaps its due to the lack of a consistent running game?
well i do believe Tim Tebow is a football player so i don’t think he can get hit to much…in football you are suppose to get hit that ist he point of the game…
im tebows #1 fan and i know that he will be back and the gators will beat the mess out of LSU ……….. GO GATORS
