It wouldn’t surprise if Tim Tebow popped up in a Super Bowl ad Sunday. Not one for a faith-based organization as he did several years ago, but for a proud brand. Knowing how some advertisers try to tap into the zeitgeist the fascination with Tebow would seem to make him an ideal candidate. And, his success took off early enough in the fall for a brand to develop a spot worthy of the big game. If Tebow continues to succeed on the field and yet fails to become a commensurate endorsement star, it would be quizzical considering how many athletes with questionable records land major deals.

Also, on Tuesday, TLC said it would produce “Preacher Wives” about the women behind the men who run congregations and hold some pretty big sway themselves. The show should have plenty of entertainment value considering the producers are also behind “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” but EW reported some of the women step up to “sermonize.”

The show presumably won’t have an advertiser like Lowe’s making the high-profile decision to pull ads as it did with TLC’s “All-American Muslim.” Which leads to the suggestion that Tebow and a marketer like Lowe’s would do well together in an ad that preaches an uplifting tolerance angle.

Super Bowl XLIV aired last night on CBS in front of millions of television viewers. The highly debated (and anticipated) Tim Tebow Super Bowl Ad aired during the first set of commercial after kickoff. I had the DVR running so as soon as the commercial finished I immediately rewatched it. I couldn’t believe that this is the commercial all the Pro-Choice groups were getting all worked up over. The commercial was absolutely harmless – and quite funny too. Here it is in case you’ve missed it.

Pam Tebow showed one little picture of Tim when he was a baby. She never mentioned the word abortion, just called him a “miracle baby.” With all the hype and controversy I was expecting something a lot more graphic, serious and in your face. This seemed like a playful, quite, subtle commercial that made people smile. What is your take on the commercial?

Tim Tebow was at the Super Bowl last night and we have some pictures for you:

Over the next few months we will see Tim Tebow in a lot of commercials and endorsing a lot of new products. Rookie athletes do this to put their name out there and show NFL Football teams that they can be good promoters of the team and be active outside of football. Tim has been a pro-life activist for as long as any of us can remember, so it’s to know surprise that one of the first deals he signed was to create a 30 second ad for Focus on the Family that will air during the Super Bowl.

The Super Bowl ad would be costly — as a spot during the game and three 30-second commercials before it would reportedly run about $2-3 million — but provides a unique exposure to a large national and international audience.

“Tim and Pam share our respect for life and our passion for helping families thrive,” Daly said. “Focus on the Family is about … strengthening families by empowering them with the tools they need to live lives rooted in morals and values.”

In the past, the NFL hasn’t really gone for these type of commercials. But Tim Tebow has a unique story and I think Focus on the Family wants to share it with the world. Tebow wasn’t born in America… he was actually born in the Philippines. The Gainesville Sun reports:

Pam Tebow entered into a coma after she contracted amoebic dysentery, an infection of the intestine caused by a parasite found in a contaminated food or drink.

The treatment for the medical condition would require strong medications that doctors told Pam had caused irreversible damage to Tim — so they advised her to have an abortion.

As the Sun reported, Pam Tebow refused the abortion and cited her Christian faith as the reason for her hope that her son would be born without the devastating disabilities physicians predicted.

Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed and, eventually, gave birth to a health baby boy in August 1987.

And the rest is history – Tim Tebow became arguably the greatest college football player ever and one heck of a human being. It’s my guess the Super Bowl ad will feature the story of his birth. Check back her after the game and we’ll have a video of the commercial posted.
