Become a Member of Team Tebow

One of our readers just sent in a tip about a new “petition” going around online asking people to sign and become an official member of TEAM Tebow. TEAM Tebow is tmade up of football fans, college football fans, and Tim Tebow fans, specifically. It’s basically a group of people that are agreeing to follow Tim in the NFL and support whichever team drafts him – even if he lands on a team you hate. There are a couple of rules you need to know before signing the petition.

1. You don’t have to be a Gator fan to join – just a Tebow fan.
2. You respect the morals and values that Tim Tebow espouses and stands up for.
3. You support whatever team drafts Tebow

It will be hard for true NFL fans to stick to these rules… for example, if you’re a die hard Cowboys fan and TIm gets drafted to the Redskins – can you really support that team? Probably not. You can still like Tebow as a player, but I don’t think you’re going to be lining up to buy Redskins gear.

With that said, I definitely think there is a niche of loyal Tebow followers that will become fans of whatever team he gets drafted to. People who may have only been college fans before and might not have a favorite pro team.

If you’d like to view the petition and sign it, please click here. There are currently 81 supporters, with a goal of 100,000.

Tim Tebow at the Mall

The kind folks over at Ocean Air Graphics in the Avenues Mall sent me several more photos of Tim Tebow at his autograph signing. If you have pictures you’d like me to post on here of the event, please contact me. Tom, from Ocean Air, met Tim out at the loading dock and said he was extremely nice – possibly a little nervous – but humble and willing to shake everyone’s hand as he walked by. You can see the crowds are pretty big and wrapped around both sides of the mall.

One thing I’m wondering though is what’s the deal with the giant chicken in Photo 1?

Tim Tebow at the Autograph Signing

Tim Tebow was in Jacksonville on Saturday for his first official autograph signing. The event was set up by Palm BEach Autographs in The Avenues Mall. I was not there but it was a great event and extremely crowded. Tim’s hometown is Jacksonville and you can be sure the crowd gave him a hometown welcome. Remember, it cost people $150 to get an autograph and $75 for a picture with Tim – all the proceeds went to the Tim Tebow Foundation. PBA is selling autographed helmets and football on their site for over $200 – so if you spent the $150 to get Tim’s autograph then you likely turned a profit … not that anyone there was getting merchandise signed to sell. I’m sure 99% of the patrons want to keep his autograph.

Here are a couple of pictures from the event I found on Flickr by Narcosis27.

Did Tim Tebow’s Posse Steal Darrell Waltrip’s car?

Have you seen the headlines lately? Sporting sites are reporting Tim Tebow’s posse mistakenly stole Darrell Waltrip’s car – Waltrip is a famous NASCAR driver. It all came about when Waltrip tweeted this on Monday:

@AllWaltrip:Tim Tebow took my car last night , problem is I didn’t tell him he could , he took it by mistake , its 3 o’clock and he hasn’t returned it !

Crazy huh? We all know that Tim Tebow would never steal a car, or would anyone in his posse (and I don’t know why articles are saying Tim has a “posse”… he was with his brother and agent). One, it’s not in his character and two, Tim can afford his own car LOL. According to Yahoo Sports here’s how it went down.

Waltrip had left his black Lexus SUV parked at a private Nashville airport while covering last weekend’s race in Las Vegas for Fox. Waltrip, apparently unfamiliar with the concept that someone might actually steal his car — carjackings are rare on NASCAR tracks — actually left his key in the car and left the doors unlocked.

Enter Tebow, his brother, one of his agents and the head of a Nashville-area training facility, D1 Sports. On Sunday night, Tebow and his associates were returning from the NFL combine. D1 CEO Will Bartholomew was told to drive Tebow’s agent’s car — a black Mercedes — back to D1’s facility while Tebow and the rest of the crew rode in another car. Well, it was dark, the Mercedes just happened to be parked next to Waltrip’s Lexus, one thing led to another, and there was no car when Waltrip got back to the airport later Sunday evening.

Everything has been sorted out now and no harm was done. Apparently Waltrip wanted to report the car stolen (as a prank), but his wife talked him out of it. And most reports actually say Tim never was in the car, so not sure he would have got in trouble if it was reported stolen.

Tim Tebow 40 Yard Dash

We have a video of Tim Tebow running the 40 yard dash at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Tim ran a 4.7 in his first attempt and a 4.72 in his second attempt – pretty good numbers for a quarterback who weighs 236 pounds. There’s no question that Tebow is the most athletic quarterback going into the draft. He didn’t do the bench press and didn’t throw, but all his other performance numbers are great. I think through the first few days of the Combine here, Tim has definitely improved his draft stock. A lot of teams move guys up and down their boards based on these numbers. We’ve even seen players sky rocket because of a good Combine – Matt Jones, Darius Heyward-Bey, etc.

Here’s the video of his first attempt.

Tim Tebow NFL Combine Recap

Tim Tebow has been working hard in Indianapolis the past few days at the NFL Combine. Remember, he isn’t throwing for scouts – he’s waiting until the Florida Pro Day to unveil his new throwing motion. But, Tim was out there running the 40, doing vertical leaps and long jumps. Tebow unofficially ran the 40-yard dash at the scouting combine in 4.7 and 4.72 seconds, good times for a quarterback. His official 40 times will be revealed later, but the 4.7-second figure was his clocked time on NFL Network’s exclusive coverage of the combine workouts. Tebow also posted a vertical leap of 38.5 inches, tying Josh McCown for the best ever by a quarterback.

Here is a video shot by CBS from the Combine of Tim being interviewed about his throwing motion.

And here are some pictures taken during his workouts.

Tim Tebow Pre-Combine Intervire with NFL Network

Tim Tebow joined Steve Mariucci and Mike Mayock of the NFL Network to talk about his new and improved technique. They pretty much ask him the same questions as the ESPN video I posted yesterday. They ask him about if he’s going to throw at the Combine, what did he learn from his Senior Bowl experience, who is learning from this offseason, etc.

They show some footage of Tim working on his new throwing motion and then talk to him for about 2-3 minutes on the motion. Tim breaks down the motion and demonstrates everything for the crew. This video definitely helps him show the NFL scouts he is improving.

Watch the video here.

The interview was shot on the 50-yard line at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis. It’s pretty cool just seeing them in an empty stadium for an interview. It’s about 7 minutes long.

One thing to note – that beard Tebow was sporting in yesterday’s video is gone!

Here are some comments from people who have seen the video:

I hope the Raiders do the right thing….DUMP JaBUSTUS and pick TEBOW! I think they should pick him in the first round, at least this guy WILL put in the WORK not like the other first round BUMS the Raiders have selected in years past! Grad is a short term solution but give TEBOW time to develop under Paul Hacket and Hugh Jackson and I think the nation will love him for the next 10+ years!!!!!!!

Look the guys a winner, a football player. A few season learning how to be an nfl qb and he’ll be good maybe even great. I honestly think a team might take a chance with a late 1st or early 2nd round pick on him even though everybodys saying 2nd-3rd round. Dude has so much potential.

Personally I think hes either gonna be awesome or not fit in at all. I just cant see him being a NFL qb. Although its hard to doubt a guy like that when u look at his stats and what he accomplished at Florida cant wait to see how it goes.

He’d be a perfect fit in miami.. put in ten to fifteen plays for him let him run a wild cat style offense there and let him develop as a qb there would be no pressure for him to start any time soon. Plus the PR for Miami would be great. I don’t understand why no one is talking about that possibility.

Tim Tebow 2.0

A lot of you have been hearing about this new Tim Tebow 2.0 and may not know what it is referring to. Well over the past month or so, Tim has been working very hard on fixing his throwing motions and footwork. Tim has elected not to throw at the combine and will unveil this new Tim Tebow 2.0 during the Gator Pro Day. He supposedly now has a faster delivery, got rid of the wind up and is more proficient at taking snaps from under the center.

Trey Wingo of ESPN interviewed Tim about these changes and his expectations at the NFL Combine. ESPN didn’t allow me to embed the Youtube video into this blog post, so you’ll have to go to Youtube to watch it. The interview is about 3 minutes long and Tim is rocking a thick beard – so that’s pretty cool.

Watch Tim Tebow Interview

Trey asks him the following questions:

What motivated you the most to make these changes?

How did you come to the decision not to throw at the combine and to unveil Tim Tebow 2.0 at the Gator Pro Day?

Realistically, how much do you think you can change after years of throwing?

What did it feel like to hear all the criticism during the Senior Bowl?

Whats the one message you want to get across from this video we’ve shown to the GMs, Scouts, and NFL personel?

Are you excited to see Tim Tebow 2.0? Post a comment and let me know.

Tim Tebow Autograph Signing

Get your jerseys, football and 8×10s ready… Tim Tebow will be making his first and exclusive autograph signing at Palm Beach Autographs in the Avenues Mall in Jacksonville, Florida. Palm Beach Autographs does the official autograph signings for all the Florida Gators – they did Percy Harvin last year, Reggie Nelson, Earl Everett, Brandon Siler, etc in years prior. I went to Percy’s last year, it was a pretty good set up.

The signing will take place on March 6th – I don’t have a time yet, but I think it will be around 2:00 pm. It is not free to get a Tebow autograph. It will cost you $150 for an autographed 8×10 (or you can bring your own gear for him to sign) and $75 for a picture. You must purchase a ticket from Palm Beach Autographs beforehand, you cannot just show up and expect to get an autograph.

Now I know what you’re thinking – $150 for an autograph and $75 for a picture seems outrageous. And it is… for a normal athlete. Reggie Nelson was like $20 and Percy Harvin was $40 I think. Tim Tebow is different though. Instead of keeping all the money himself, he is donating all the proceeds from this even to his Tim Tebow Foundation. Pretty cool, huh?! Now it makes paying the big bucks worth it.

If you plan to go, my suggestion is to get there EARLY. The lines were extremely long for other Gator players, I can’t imagine what it is going to be like for Tim. They’re going to have to bring in a lot of extra security for line enforcement, etc. I’ll update you with more info when I get it.

Update: Tim Tebow will not throw at Combine

I said in an earlier post that Tim Tebow will be throwing at the NFL Combine – well, that’s not accurate. We just found out today that Tim has been working on a new delivery and will unveil it at UF’s Pro Day… not the NFL Combine. Tim will work out, do interviews, etc at the combine he just won’t throw in front of scouts.

“I’m not changing who I am or how I approach football,” Tebow said Sunday night from Nashville, Tenn., where he has been busy remaking the style that was good enough to win one Heisman Trophy and two national championships at Florida.

“But there are things that I can get a lot better at — my fundamentals. I’ve never been asked to shorten or quicken my release and not have a loop in it. The changes I’m making have gone very well and it’s becoming more and more natural to me.”

Tim has been working with former NFL Offensive Coordinator Zeke Bratkowski and several other coaches on improving his mechanics. He’s gone from bringing the ball down by his hip to keeping it up by his shoulder. This is extremely important for a quarterback to succeed in the NFL.

Asked if he would have embarked on such an extensive and exhausting process had his performance at the Senior Bowl not been so roundly criticized, Tebow said: “Probably, just because of the quarterback coaches I’ve been working with. I want to get better. I want to be around people who will push me. I will do anything to get better. Without hearing the criticism, I would have done it.

“It’s made me more confident, more accurate. And that’s not to say I haven’t had this type of coaching in the past. I just have had different coaching than this NFL style.”

Can’t wait to see Tim Tebow 2.0 on March 17.
