Over 2,000 people (probably half the population of Bradford County) packed the Bradford County High School football stadium to listen in on a speech by our favorite Florida Gator, Tim Tebow. The event was a youth rally organized by First Baptist Church of Starke student pastor and family friend Joe Fennell.
Tim Tebow asked audience members “what are you doing with your dash?” A dash is supposed to represent the small line on your tombstone between your birth-date and death-date. So far, Tim Tebow has done quite a bit with his dash. A Heisman Trophy, National Championship, community service, missionary work, etc. The goal of the speech was to get kids amped about doing something important and meaningful with their lives. “That dash,” Tebow said, “represents everything I did with my life.”
This is just an example of what Tim Tebow is doing to help the community. He’s not just a football player. He is invited to dozens of churches for speeches every month. He can’t accept them all, but does the best he can. While other players are out partying and getting into trouble, Timmy remains a model citizen. This is just one of the many reason why we all love Tim Tebow.
Those of you who don’t visit The Swamp regularly, or haven’t been to a Florida Gator game in several years… may not know that there is a special place in the stadium for Heisman Trophy winners. Steve Spurrier and Danny Wuerffel have their special spots, and now Tim Tebow has his.
Below is a picture of Tim Tebow’s jersey number and Heisman honor that is located on the upper deck of the southwest section of the stadium. This is a piece of history that will remain in The Swamp forever.
In a recent Rivals.com ranking, Florida Gator quarterback Tim Tebow was ranked #1 at his position for the 2008 college football season. The only question they ask is:
What can the Heisman Trophy winner do for an encore?
How does a National Championship sound? If Tim Tebow were to win 2 National Championships and a Heisman (or two), he could go down as the greatest college quarterback of all-time. There have been many other great ones, like Peyton Manning (never won the big game) and Vince Young, but they won’t have the hardware that Timmy has the potential to win.
Being ranked #1 heading into this season is a honor for Tim. I remember heading into 2007 all the media “experts” criticized Tim. Saying he wouldn’t be able to handle a full workload or he can’t throw the ball. Everyone was quick to bash him. But now, all the experts are giving him his due, saying he’s the best quarterback in football. It’s nice to finally have some respect
Don’t know what an RSS Feed is? No biggie, unless you’re an avid internet user, then you may not know what it is. Apparently I missed the notice that said there is an official Rivalry between Georgia Quarterback Matt Stafford and Florida Quarterback Tim Tebow. Sure both are juniors this season and trying to lead their teams to SEC Titles and National Championships. I can’t imagine Tim Tebow ever publicly stating a rivalry between the two, in fact it’s been quite the opposite. Tebow refers to Stafford as “a great guy,” while Stafford explains, “I have always had a ton of respect for Tim and obviously he is one of the best out there. He’s a really good player on the field and a good guy off of it.”
Fox Sports wrote an article today about the rivalry (or creating the rivalry). The article is mostly Stafford heavy and points out that Stafford is ahead in career wins and head to head wins. Even though Tim Tebow led all quarterbacks in pretty much every statistical category, the author still maintains Stafford is the better choice ( Stafford has thrown 26 touchdowns and 23 interceptions in the last two years).
I’m going to be biased when I say this (I am a Gator alum and fan), but Tim Tebow is probably 10 times the quarterback Matt Stafford is right now. Fox has a poll up on their page asking people to vote who the better quarterback is. Click here to cast your vote.

There are a lot of organizations that seek out Tim Tebow to give motivaiton or inspirational speeches. I was searching through YouTube and came across this Tim Tebow motivation speech. If it doesn’t get you pumped up, then nothing will. I’m sure the sports casters on the receiving end of this speech would run through a wall for Tebow.
Even rival fans of the Florida Gators love Tim Tebow. In the past we’ve shared some stories that readers submit to us. Today’s email comes from Stephanie, an Auburn Fan who just can’t get enough of Tebowmania.
Hey, First of all I’m an die hard Auburn Fan. But who can’t love Tebow. I’ve been impressed every time I’ve seen him play!! But what impresses me the most is that he has helped to pave the way for a lot of homeschoolers to be able to play in REAL teams! I was homeschooled myself and just to hear all the media about him has validated the fact that homeschoolers aren’t handicapped in any sort of way! And now many homeschoolers are able to play in sports that we couldn’t before Tebow came around. He has sparked a a new interest in getting kids into sports no matter if they are public schooled or homeschooled! Several states have done the same as Florida in letting homeschoolers play, and that in and of itself is awesome!! As Tebow said ‘Football is a means to an end, and the end is to me is to be a good role model’ Go Gators and WAR EAGLE!!!!
While most college students are out getting drunk in Panama City during Spring Break, Tim Tebow was performing medical procedures in the Philippines. Is there anything he can’t do?
We had heard rumors of Tim Tebow assisting in circumcisions last week, but today was the first time it was put in print by a major newspaper. The Orlando Sentinel reported the story today and even has a picture of Tim Tebow in one of those doctor jump suits. “The first time, it was nerve-racking,” he said. “Hands were shaking a little bit. I mean, I’m cutting somebody. You can’t do those kinds of things in the United States. But those people really needed the surgeries. We needed to help them.”
It’s a really cool article that all Tebow fans need to read. The best quote from the whole this was by Shaun Young, a UF graduate student. “You always hear that this kid can do anything,” Young said, “and then I see him doing surgery. Maybe he can do anything.” It’s funny, but true at the same time. It’s stuff like that that just gets under the skin of rivals.
Tim Tebow just continues to amaze us on and off the field. We’ll have more stories like this as they develop.
Tim Tebow recently did a one-on-one interview with Dan Hicken of First Coast News in Ponte Vedra Beach after the Fellow Christian Athlete’s fundraiser that Tebow was part of.
Hicken talks to Tim about his faith, winning the Heisman, and what he thinks of the 2009 NFL Draft. The video starts off with an advertisement so don’t let it fool you. You can view it on the FCN website, or by clicking here.
