Just found a video of the cheap shot UGA’s Nick Williams gave Tim Tebow on Saturday. I know a lot of people are talking about Brandon Spikes eye-gauging a UGA player in the pile, but this video just goes to show the entire game was very physical, tough and dirty on both sides of the ball. It wasn’t just Florida doing the dirty work.

Yes, Georgia played viciously throughout the game. But what Spikes did wasn’t just unsportsmanlike, it was criminal. If he’d done something like that in the stands, instead of on the football field, he would have rightly been charged w/a felony. And, if Spikes hadn’t been incompetent at it, what he did could have resulted in the player being permanently disabled, not merely injured. I’m really disappointed w/Tebow for his excuse-making about this in his presser yesterday.
How many times have I seen “eye gouging incident” instead of attempted eye gouging incident? Come on folks, there is a difference. Yes, being unsucessful at the attempt may change people’s opinion of you for life but fact is that Ealy did not have his eyes gouged. The late hit on Tebow was an intentional cheap shot which was also caught on tape but not called by the refs. The difference was that it was not an attempted late hit, it was intentional and successful and could have resulted in serious injury, especially since Tebow had sustained a serious concussion in the Kentucky game.
